Dear Sakai River: A Letter of Gratitude
FUJIOH is committed to eco-friendly initiatives and actively supports community-driven environmental cleaning projects. This year, on October 6, 2024, we joined the "Sakai River Cleanup Operation," organized by the Sakai River Cleanup Executive Committee. The event fosters collaboration and connection among citizens across the river basin, from Machida in Tokyo to Fujisawa in Kanagawa. As a peaceful haven for walkers and cyclists, the Sakai River enriches local lives, and we're proud to contribute to its care.
Here are some reflections from our team:
This is Our Second Participation
We prioritize community contributions, which is why we participate in activities like this. This year, we cleaned the Negishi area, making our second time part of this initiative.
Improving My Daughter’s Hometown
Though I’m not originally from here, I want to make this town better for my daughter. Joining with my husband and daughter was a great way to show her the importance of caring for our community. It also deepened my connection to the town.
Protecting a Habitat for Animals
Cleaning the river was challenging, especially going into the water. But seeing so many birds reminded me how good this environment already is for wildlife. It’s encouraging to see people from all backgrounds, including university students and individual participants, caring for our city’s environment.
The cleanup ran from 9:30 to 11:00, with 13 participants, including children, representing Team FUJIOH. Beyond cleaning, the event brought us closer to our community and inspired us to continue preserving nature.
In total, the event gathered around 40 participants at our venue alone, and activities were conducted simultaneously across eight different locations. This collective effort highlights the shared commitment of everyone involved toward creating a cleaner environment.
We look forward to sharing more updates soon.
With gratitude,
FUJIOH Family
